Over twenty souls have embraced the Sabbath of the Lord since I came to Emmitsburg, July 5. Aug. 20 was a good day to the newly converted among the Danes and Norwegians here. Ten were baptized, and three who had been previously baptized covenanted with them to keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Others will soon unite. I have obtained eleven subscribers for our Danish paper, and one each for the Review and Reformer. But few books have been sold, on account of the grasshoppers, which have nearly destroyed the whole of the crops.
