MILFORD, ILL.

We pitched our tent in this place on Tuesday, Aug. 22, and up to the present time have held twenty-seven meetings. The weather was quite favorable until within the past week; since then it has been cold and rainy. Most of the time our attendance has ranged from seventy-five to one hundred and twenty-five. On first-days it has been much larger; and notwithstanding the darkness, rain, and mud, during the past week, the people have come to meetings, and listened attentively to the word spoken.
Bro. G. F. Shonk arrived here Sept. 9. His assistance was very much needed, as sickness in Bro. Merritt’s family made it necessary that he should be at home a part of the time.
Several here are convinced in regard to the Sabbath. Some have promised to obey. One man who has been licensed to preach by the M. E. church, seems to be on the point of decision. Another man of intelligence, a Bible reader, who has been an exhorter in the U. B. church, seems to be very much stirred. He says he knows we are right, and that he has a work to do. “He that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.” Matt. 10:38.
Pray for us.
B. F. MERRITT, DENNIS MORRISON.
