Servian Engagement Threatens Wider European War

The Servians followed up their rejection of a prolonged armistice by a grand engagement on Thursday last. The results are as yet uncertain, both sides claiming a victory, the probability, however, seems to be on the side of a Servian success. It is conceded that Turkey must now close immediately with the best terms offered her, or Russia cannot longer be kept out of the contest. The next 48 hours will probably settle the question of peace or a general European war.
