Salem.

I held meetings with the Salem church, Sept. 14 and 15. One united with the church. Bro. James A. Ashbaugh was ordained elder; Bro. J. H. S. Crawford was elected deacon; and Bro. A. E. Bullock, treasurer.
At this meeting we were glad to meet Eld. Thorp, and to see him come out fully on the truths of the third angel’s message, identifying himself with the remnant people of God. Since he embraced the Sabbath last spring, the Brinkerhoff party have tried hard to drive him from the S. D. Adventist people, by misrepresenting the testimonies and health reform. Their course has caused him to investigate these points thoroughly, and he is now a firm believer in the testimonies, is living out the health reform, and intends to help proclaim the third angel’s message. By all who know him, he is highly esteemed as a good speaker and a Christian.
Sept. 18th, I commenced meetings seven miles north-east of Salem. The interest is increasing. Last Sabbath three united with the Salem church. The dragon is wroth. One man told his wife Sabbath morning that if she went to meeting that day she would attend a funeral Sunday. Remember those who meet such opposition, in your prayers.
