Miss Emily Faithful is a well-known English philanthropist. In a recent lecture she spoke of extravagance in modern life, and said that luxury is becoming a perfect passion among English men and women, and that they have not the taste for simple pleasures, while in their pursuit of gold they are losing sight of the higher and nobler characteristics.
