National Camp-Meeting.

THE great camp-meeting to be held at Battle Creek, Mich., October 2-9, may be properly called, The National Meeting of the Seventh-day Adventists. Relative to this our annual feast of tabernacles we wish to say,—
1. It will be the largest convocation of those who revere the ancient Sabbath of the Lord that has ever assembled on the American continent. The meeting is purposely put at a late date, after the season for tent-meetings has closed, excepting in the Southern States, in order that there might be a general attendance of our ministers. Elder Loughborough is expected to be present at this General Conference and camp-meeting, on his way to England.
2. The weather may be very fine, it may be stormy and cold. All who come should be prepared for the worst. Underclothes, overcoats, shawls, thick shoes and boots, rubbers, buffalo robes, and heavy blankets, will be very much needed if the weather should be cold, and would do no harm in camp in case of warm and pleasant weather. And each tent company should prepare to put up a stove in case the weather should be rough.
3. Let the Great Central Camp-meeting for 1878 be a mammoth gathering. We shall look for family tents from the several States, especially from adjoining States. And the brethren should bring their children and friends, in the earnest hope that they will be converted to God and his truth at this meeting.
4. Lastly, but not least, come in season and stay until the camp breaks. We always disliked to see such a meeting peaked at both ends. Let the beginning and ending of this important camp-meeting be as square as a brick. And may all our brethren and sisters come praying that the Master will come to the feast.
James White.
