Kansas Church News from Harrisonville, Peru, and Bloomfield
Harrisonville.—Sabbath, Sept. 28, we had a profitable meeting here. Two united with the church by baptism, making five in all who have united with us since camp-meeting. Some, however, are moving away; this will be quite a loss to the church. Peru, Chautauqua Co.—Oct. 2 I held a meeting near Peru, at the home of Bro. Logan. The house was full. After service, Bro. L. was baptized. Six here will covenant to keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Ministerial labor is very much needed at this place. The tract society seems to have done its work, and the people are thirsting to hear the word spoken. Bloomfield.—Oct. 5, 6, a good quarterly meeting was held with the church at Bloomfield. A tract-society meeting was held for Dist. No. 4, at which there was a good representation of the members. The reports showed a degree of prosperity beyond our expectations. At this meeting my office as director was turned over to Bro. R. H. Brock. Members can address him at Lazette, Cowley county, Kan. I am sorry to leave a field of labor where God has given me so many warm friends; but let us rejoice in the knowledge of the third angel’s message, and by drawing near to God be assured of meeting in the kingdom of his dear Son. J. P. Henderson. Osawkee, Jefferson Co., Oct. 8. I met with the Osawkee church, Oct. 5 and 6. One was added to the church, and $127.00 was subscribed to buy a tent to run north of the Kansas River, in the State of Kansas; meetings in it to commence in the spring. This church is prospering. May God bless their labors and sacrifices. God helped me in speaking. My trust is in him; for without him I can do nothing. Geo. Kennedy. Lenora, Norton Co., Sept. 29. To-day we closed our lectures at this place. Three have commenced the observance of the Sabbath. M. Enoch. J. S. Thorp.
