Church Quarterly Meetings, January 4 and 5.

Let every church remember the quarterly meeting on Sabbath and Sunday, January 4 and 5. Nothing should be allowed to interfere with this meeting. It should neither be postponed nor held before the time.

BUSINESS TO BE ATTENDED TO.

The clerk should first read the record of all the business done at the last quarterly meeting, and since that time, that corrections may be made, if any are needed. Then the clerk should read in order the names of the members of the church, and the elder should call upon them to respond. All who do not, either personally or by letter, should be visited or written to immediately.
All the business of the church should now be attended to. Letters should be granted, members admitted, baptism administered, the ordinances celebrated, etc. All S. S. pledges, or tithes, should be promptly paid up at this meeting. The treasurer should read a written statement of all the receipts and disbursements since the last quarterly meeting. He should distinctly state the amount that each member has paid, and what has been done with the money. Corrections can then be called for. Monday morning the treasurer should send to the State treasurer all the money he has on hand, and to the State secretary a statement of the same.
Every member of the tract society should present to the society a report of all his or her labor during the past quarter. The librarian should read a report of the last quarterly meeting, and all transactions since that day, so that corrections can be made if any are needed. Monday morning the librarian should send a report to his district secretary.
The secretary of the Sabbath-school should read a written report at this meeting of the workings of the Sabbath-school for the last quarter. Monday morning he should send his report to the State secretary.
