THE GERMAN PAPER AND OUR TRACT SOCIETIES.

We have reason to rejoice in the evidences we are constantly having that the providence of God is leading forward in his work. There has been a call from many of our friends for a German paper. Whether the time has fully arrived or not for its publication, will be determined by the demand for it. We call upon our German friends, especially, to show the interest they have in it; also to our tract societies, where they can use the paper, to do the same. Be awake to the importance of the matter. There are German settlements all through the country where, with a little effort, many copies might be used, with good results. It is proposed to issue several numbers between this and next January, which can be had for ten cents. Five dollars will pay for one hundred papers. Many of our friends can use this number to good advantage. Judicious efforts at this time will aid greatly in insuring future prosperity to this enterprise. Let the rays of light be scattered, and the truth be brought to the knowledge of the honest. Those who are instrumental in this work will have it said to them, “Thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
Are there not German families in your neighborhood to whom you can give a copy of this paper? Is there not some German settlement which you can visit, and thus dispose of twenty-five or fifty copies. Americans who can neither read nor speak the German language need not hesitate to engage in this work. In some instances the interest to read may be increased on this account. S. N. HASKELL.

TO S. B. TREASURERS IN VERMONT.

To each S. B. treasurer I have sent a statement of the money paid into the State treasury since our last State Conference up to the present date. If the amount acknowledged does not agree with what you have charged me, please inform me of this fact, and state the discrepancy.
As early as Aug. 15, please state to C. E. Powell, Eden Mills, Vt., the amount of S. B. funds sent me this Conference year up to the above-named date. No money received after Aug. 20 will be credited for this Conference year. Our books must be audited at the soon-coming Conference, and they should agree exactly. A. S. HUTCHINS, Treas.
