MISSOURI

Henkin’s Grove, Caldwell Co.—Monday, Sept. 29, after having remained here five weeks, took down and packed the tent for the season. Bro. Chaffee was with me the greater part of the last week, and rendered good service in preaching. One family came out decided on the Sabbath. Others say that this is the truth, and there is reason to believe that more will be led to obey; but oh! how hard it is to give up traditions and take God at his word.
I scarcely ever before encountered such deep-set prejudice, or saw such a manifestation of the stay-away argument as was exhibited by the Baptists and Presbyterians of this place. Some of the best citizens who are non-professors, are disgusted with them for acting so cowardly in defending their position on the Sunday question. We referred them to 2 Tim. 4: 3, 4. The truth will test the people. At Kingston and this place there are three whole families keeping the Sabbath as the result of nine weeks’ labor. A large field is opened for future labor.
