NEW YORK.

Van Ettenville, Chemung Co., Oct. 28.—We began meetings in a country school-house about five miles from this place, Sept. 30. Have held five meetings a week, and preached twice a week in an adjoining neighborhood. We have met considerable opposition. Strong efforts have been made to break up our meetings, even tar and feathers having been proposed; but we have held on, trusting in God. We have held one Sabbath meeting. Eight have signed the covenant, and we expect that others will do so. The truth is comparatively new in this section, and considerable prejudice exists, but it is giving way and the truth is gaining ground.
Brethren, remember us in prayer, as we need the special help of the Lord.
