The Life-Giving Fountain

By Paulina Alway Anderson
“In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.” Zech. 13:1.
There's a beautiful fountain of waters of life Open to-day, open to-day. Come away, come away from the pathway of strife. O, come to thy Saviour to-day! He has waited thee long. His locks are wet With the dews of night. Still He lingers yet, So patiently waiting; and still we forget The wonderful fountain of life.

CHORUS

O, cleansing fountain of David so fair! Let us plunge in to-day, and be purified there. O wonderful Saviour! O precious blood! Wash us white ’neath the gleams of thy cleansing flood.
Have we forsaken the fountain of life— Our Saviour divine, Saviour divine? Thou Sun of Righteousness, quickly arise, With wings of healing sublime. Blest, gentle Spirit of the Lord, Go forth, unite us by Thy word. Let every soul in Zion be stirred To drink of the fountain of life.
Yes, Jesus, the fountain of righteousness fair, Is standing to-day, pleading to-day, Praying the Father His people may share, Share in this fountain to-day. O, soon will these offers of mercy be o’er, God’s people be gathered to Canaan’s bright shore! Come, drink of life’s fountain, and thirst nevermore While the years of eternity roll.
Suffer the children to lovingly come. Jesus will bless, Jesus will save. Let youth in their beauty and innocence come. For us His life He gave. And you who have waited till locks are gray, O, come to the Lord, and make no delay! Yes, fathers and mothers, stay, stay not away. “The Saviour invites you to-day.”
