IF CHRIST IS MINE.

If Christ is mine, and I am his, What more on earth can I desire? There's naught can happen that's amiss, Nor aught of ill to me transpire.
What though the world were all mine own, The heaped-up wealth of land and sea; Yet, wanting Christ, the poorest one On earth were richer far than me.
The pomp of power, the breath of fame, May do for those who have no more; I only ask that my poor name May stand with his whom I adore.
Then let men hate, with scorn deride, Disasters press, and loss and pain; If they but drive me to his side I'll count them all as priceless gain.
If I am Christ's, and Christ is mine, Then I am rich beyond compare; I am a king by right divine, And to the universe an heir.
—Wm. G. Haeselbarth, in Christian at Work.
