Farmersville, Cal.

I LEFT the work in this place about two weeks ago. On account of the very unfavorable weather we failed to accomplish what we had hoped for. Yet it is not left entirely without a witness for the truth. I am now holding meetings at Locust Grove school-house, about four miles north-east of here. Have given so far twelve discourses. The attendance, although quite small the first two evenings, has been rapidly increasing since. Have had an average attendance the past week of over forty. Last evening there were about sixty present. Good attention is being paid to the word spoken. The people are investigating and seem anxious to know "what is truth." J. D. RICE. March 11, 1878.
