Alabama.

We reached Gadsden, which is about fifteen miles south of Bladen Springs, March 16, expecting to find our tents, which we had ordered a month before; but we were disappointed. After remaining a few days and setting everything in order as far as we could, we came into the country, where we found a church of Baptists, and three ordained ministers, that had been cut off from the Baptist association, because they had embraced the Bible doctrine of the sleep of the dead and the annihilation of the wicked. Here we found warm friends and attentive listeners. Brother Ellett holds meetings at their house of worship, and I am holding meetings five miles from there. One minister and quite a number of the members have begun Sabbath observance. We have never seen so many openings before.
