IN answer to many inquiries, and for the accommodation of our friends wishing to correspond with persons in Australia, or the islands of the Pacific, we present the following time-table showing the dates when through mail steamers are advertised to leave San Francisco. STEAMERS LEAVE SAN FRANCISCO.
Dec. 18, 1886, Steamer Zealandia.
Jan. 15, 1887, " Alameda.
Feb. 12, " " Mariposa.
Mar. 12, " " Zealandia.
April 9, " " Alameda.
May 7, " " Mariposa.
June 4, " " Zealandia.
July 2, " " Alameda.
July 30, " " Mariposa.
Aug. 27, " " Zealandia.
Sept. 24, " " Alameda.
Oct. 22, " " Mariposa.
Nov. 19, " " Zealandia.
Dec. 17, " " Alameda. These steamers are sometimes delayed a day or two waiting for the English mails. It must be borne in mind that it takes about six days for a letter to go overland from New York to San Francisco. To any of our friends who contemplate going to Australia or New Zealand, we would kindly tender our services in purchasing tickets, securing berths, and giving any desired information. The steamers sailing on this line are first-class in every respect, but are usually quite crowded, therefore, in order to obtain the most desirable accommodations, berths must be secured several days in advance of the time of sailing.
