Even at the Doors

“EVEN at the doors.” This is given as an incentive to watchfulness and right living. Says James, using the same figure: “Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye becondemned; behold, the Judge standeth before the door.” James 5:9.
Who dare indulge in bickering and strife? The Judge standeth before the door, and if he should open it and find us engaged in contention, or nursing selfishness and malice and envy, how deplorable would be our condition! Of such an one Christ says: “The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, and shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matt. 24: 50, 51.
“Watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Verse 42.
