Freshness Comes from God’s Word
By S. S. Times
If you know a minister or a teacher who seems always to have a new message for his hearers, or an old message put in a fresh way, you may be sure that the secret of that minister's, or of that teacher's, freshness, is simply his faithful study of God's word. He who fills his water-skins at the sources is sure of a sweeter supply than he who fills his from the dregs of other men's drawings; and there is no spring which flows so perennially, and with so constant a stream, as that which owes its existence to God's inspiration. If you have not that freshness of teaching which you admire in others, there is only one way of getting it, and that is by doing as they do, going continually to the source of all teaching for ever new supplies of stimulus and of suggestion.—S.
