"Be Not Deceived."

THIS generation is seriously afflicted with persons who presume to fix time for the Lord to come. They are of two classes—those who set special dates within a short time, and those who place the event hundreds or thousands of years in the future. It would be difficult to decide which is the more deluded of the two classes, as the conjectures of both are without any scriptural support. That the time is not hundreds of years in the future, is evident from the fact that the signs by which the last generation were to know that his coming is "near, even at the doors," are already in the past. See Matt. 24: 29. That the setting of dates is a fallacy, we have the word of the Master himself: "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of Heaven." Matt. 24: 36. Beware of those who speak not according to the word. Whether they set positive time near at hand, or indifferently postpone it for a thousand years, they are alike deceiving and deceived, and but serving the purposes of Satan, who cares not which bait is taken so long as the world can be deceived and lost. In this connection we would call attention to a pamphlet entitled "Matthew Twenty-four," for sale at this office. Price, 10 cents. This is a scriptural exposition that no one should fail to read.
