"Disgraceful."

This is the term which a leading San Francisco daily applies to a prize fight in that city, in which neither of the contestants was injured. The pugilists did not seem very bloodthirsty, and did not pound each other enough to please the crowd, which manifested its disapproval of such disgraceful proceedings, by hoots and hisses. The manager promised the crowd that such pusillanimous proceedings should never again disgrace the floor of his saloon. When it becomes generally understood that it is a disgrace if one stops short of making a bull-dog of himself, virtuous legislators and judges will desire some other title than that of "Honorable."
