Seventh-Day Adventist Sabbath Observance
By Editor
A LADY in the South writes thus to a friend:— "The Jews of our community, and in all cities where I have been, keep their places of business open on Saturday, and close on Sunday. Does your denomination do the same?" Most emphatically, No. The test of fellowship among Seventh-day Adventists is "the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." No one is a Seventh-day Adventist who does not keep the commandments. The fourth commandment says: "Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work; but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God; in it thou shalt not do any work." The last day of the week is observed strictly, by all commandment-keepers, as a day of rest and worship; the first six are devoted to worldly employments. Sunday is not regarded as any more sacred than Monday or Tuesday.
