SWASEY, SHASTA COUNTY, CAL.
By Frank Hope
I HAVE been holding meetings at this place, which was formerly known as Burgettsville, for the past month. Nine have signed the covenant to obey God in all things. Eight signed the Christian temperance pledge to abstain from alcohol, tobacco, and the use of tea and coffee. We organized a Sabbath-school of fourteen members, to be known as the Swasey school, also a missionary society. I preached twice and held some Bible-readings in a little place near here called Fall's City. The place consists of a few houses and three saloons. One person has commenced to keep the Sabbath. Disposed of 3,100 pages of books and tracts. FRANK HOPE.
