The Church in Politics and Boycotts

The Advance of July 6, in speaking of the World's Fair Sunday opening, says that the directors "have offended the religious element of the country. They have turned the pulpit and the religious press against them, and let them say what they will, the pulpit and the press of the great denominations are tremendous advertisers. No great project ever has succeeded without their coöperation, and is not likely to succeed in the future." This is true, and sad it is 'tis true. It is the church in politics and boycotts. But what right have Christians to be offended? It is hardly the Spirit of the Master which is seen in this. See Matt. 5: 43-45.
