BEHIND PRISON BARS.

BY T. S. PARMELEE.
Though into prisons vile a few of us are called to go, Though grated doors upon us close and guards walk to and fro, There comes from heaven a peace to us that few in this world know, Behind prison bars.
What though temptations reach the child of God in dungeons drear, What though we look in vain for our deliverance to appear? Temptations reached the Saviour once, but now they bring him near, Behind prison bars.
To him who hears the faintest sigh and marks each falling tear, We look, but do not look in vain; his love dispels our fear. What matters it though we are found when Jesus shall appear, Behind prison bars?
Frankfort, Mich.
