Increase of Crime.

A New York daily gives a record of twenty women accused of crime between January 1 and February 22. Four of these were against themselves,—suicide, or attempted suicide,—the others varied from common assault to murder. Dr. Robert Safford Newton, formerly chief medical examiner for the district attorney's office, says in the New York Journal:—
"It is an undeniable fact that crime is on the increase, and that the administration of laws as they now exist is powerless to check the growing evil."
The oldest of these women was forty-two, guilty of murder; the youngest, eighteen, guilty of robbery. The next youngest, nineteen years, was charged with burglary. The Word of God declares of this time that "evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse," and that "iniquity shall abound." Experts can not throw light upon the increase of crime, but the Bible shows clearly that it is departing from God. Read Isaiah 59. And this is a sign of the end.
