Loaning of Money

3704 — Loaning of Money.—It certainly is proper, if one has money which he does not wish to use, and he does not need income from it, to loan it to a missionary enterprise. It would seem as if a Christian would prefer to do this, rather than to deposit it in a bank, if that missionary enterprise is in need of funds at such a time. Of course if one's money is all his capital, and he is so situated, either through ill health or lack of labor, that he must have interest on it for his support, we do not see why it is not entirely proper to have a proper rate of interest. But if one does not need that interest, surely it would seem that he would not care to take it from needy missionary enterprises.
