Nebraska Camp-Meeting

This meeting, held at Seward, Neb., September 25-30, was one of great interest to the cause in that State. Nebraska and Iowa had been united in one Conference till this meeting was held; but God has greatly blessed Nebraska during the past few years, and our cause has grown quite strong, so it was thought best that a separate Conference should be organized. A State tract and missionary society was organized. The Nebraska Conference contains seventeen churches, with a membership of about three hundred and fifty, besides many that are scattered over the State. Over one hundred of these have embraced the truth during the past year. We see no reason why this may not soon become a strong Conference. The attractive climate and soil of Nebraska are drawing thousands of emigrants to its borders; and our brethren and sisters will find plenty to do to set the truth of God before them. But I know of no field where this can be done with better prospects of success. Our meeting was a good one. The brethren came with a mind to work, and God blessed them. Over one hundred subscribers were secured for our different periodicals by our tract and missionary workers. It was voted to raise a reserve fund of $1,000 for the tract and missionary society, and over $800 was pledged for that purpose. Twenty-six were baptized. Brother Shultz was ordained to the work of the gospel ministry. Our brethren parted with good courage, and praying for prosperity for this new Conference. E. W. F.
