The Variable Sun and a Groaning Creation
Scientists working in the observatory on Mount Wilson, and also spending some time in further research in Algiers, are reaching "the supposition that the sun, instead of having a fixed radiation, is really a variable star." From their observations and the data they are gathering they hope to forecast very accurately the weather for "long periods in advance." There is one serious impediment to investigations of this kind while the world is in its present condition, altho much helpful information may be gathered. We must take into account that this world is in a state of moral rebellion. Sin exists here. We have wrongs and crimes and injustice on every hand. And because of this the divine Book says: "For the earnest expectation of the creation waiteth for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but by reason of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now." Rom. 8: 19-22. Sin has caused the creation itself to be subjected to the vanity, and it is groaning under the curse. And because of this there will be seen many abnormal conditions. And if scientific men would only keep these facts in mind they would be enabled to reach more accurate and valuable results in their important lines of work.
