"The Impending Conflict—Its Causes"
Such is the title of Chapter 36 of that wonderful volume The Great Controversy Between Christ and Satan
In regard to this conflict the book says:— "The last great conflict between truth and error is but the final struggle of the long-standing controversy concerning the law of God. Upon this battle we are now entering,—a battle between the laws of men and the precepts of Jehovah; between the religion of the Bible and the religion of fable and tradition." Again we quote, this time from the author's preface:— "In the great final conflict, Satan will employ the same policy, manifest the same spirit, and work for the same end, as in all preceding ages. That which has been, will be, except that the coming struggle will be marked with a terrible intensity, such as the world has never witnessed." Therefore the author has selected such events in the history of the past struggles of the Church as foreshadow the conflict just before it, and grouped them so that their meaning can not be misunderstood.
