Three Thoughts

for the Holidays

The following books combine high moral tone with first-class workmanship; real profit with sustained interest; expensive illustrations and attractive covers with exceedingly low prices. We shall be glad to have you call at some one of the agencies given below and examine these as well as other books.

Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing

A neat volume of over two hundred pages, with cover design in three colors, and twenty-seven delightful illustrations by Charles Mente. The author is Ellen G. White, who dedicates the book "To His disciples, whom still the Master is calling to choose the spiritual above the earthly kingdom, in the hope that its pages may unfold to them more clearly the glory of the unseen." The beautiful instruction found in the fifth, sixth, and seventh chapters of Matthew is the theme of the book. There are six chapters—On the Mountainside, The Beatitudes, The Spirituality of the Law, The True Motive in Service, The Lord's Prayer, Not Judging But Doing—and these are subdivided into many little chapters, a subdivision to each striking thought. It is a book to read in odd moments, when one is weary, and the soul needs rest and refreshing. The language is simple, quiet yet forcible, dignified, and laden with spiritual food in every line. 218 pages, 5x7 inches, bound in cloth, 75 cents post-paid.

Power for Witnessing

To say that this book tells this or that would be to accuse it of empty doctrine, lifeless theory. It does not tell; it is and does. It is a witness, and with it is a power. It does not preach doctrine, nor about the Holy Spirit, but it is a living testimony of what the Spirit can do because it has already done it for one man, the writer, A. F. Ballenger, and for scores of others. You can not read it without meeting on every page a moving, breathing epistle, warm with an inner fire of life. It is full of experiences—facts—of what the power of God through the Holy Spirit has done for the sinner, the unbeliever, the infidel, the professor, the backslider, the drunkard, the fearful, the discouraged, the trembling soul, and the tried and perplexed ones. If you need help and want power, the Holy Spirit's power, this book can put you in the way of getting it. Not at all stilted, but face to face with you, and no beating about the bush. Short chapters, 44 of them to 201 pages; large type, heavy paper, beautiful cover design in three colors, size 5½x8, cloth binding, 75 cents post-paid.

The House We Live In

This is a story of the body-house, the house we live in. It is told for the children, by Vesta J. Farnsworth, but many an older child will follow with peculiar interest, somehow sustained from cover to cover, the questions and remarks and conversations of Helen and Amy and Percy and their mother. The house, with its frame, and doors, and windows, and halls, and its several rooms, and its various appurtenances, finds a counterpart in our wonderful house of flesh and blood and bones. Physiology and its scientific names are tabooed words in this book. But every page contains little and big bits of items that everybody ought to know, but which a great many do not know, about the body, how it is made, what injures it, and how to care for it. And in a perfectly natural way, without labored effort, the book keeps the Master Builder in the foreground, and thus the narrative is permeated with a high moral tone. There are twenty-six chapters, not long ones, with an original design in pen and ink for each heading. And besides these drawings there are about 130 characteristic illustrations tastefully set through its 218 pages. A striking design in red and dark green embellishes the cover. Size 6x9 in., cloth, 75 cents post-paid.
