POWER BETTER THAN KNOWLEDGE.

UNNECESSARY knowledge is promised to none of God's children; power for the work just ahead is promised to all. Just before Christ's ascension, when He was giving the eleven their last instructions, they asked Him, with a natural desire to know when to expect the fulfilment of His purposes, whether the time had now come when He would restore the kingdom to Israel. But they would have done their work no better for knowing,—probably not as well,—therefore His answer: "It is not for you to know times or seasons, which the Father hath set within His own authority. But ye shall receive power." That same denial, and that same pledge, are made to us to-day. They are sufficient.—S. S. Times.
