The Signs in Albany Saloons

EDITOR SIGNS OF THE TIMES, Mountain View, Cal. Dear Brother: Since I took up work with the SIGNS, I have had an experience I would not exchange for anything. The outside cover has had such good words that it alone sells the paper. Even tho the words are only read in passing they bless. Those good scriptures in prominent type take hold of people more than any words of any canvasser. I have had the joy of beholding their effect as I make my Saturday night pilgrimage through the saloons of the worst district in Albany, and I feel encouraged. There is a call for the "Union Label" by many men, and I hand them a Capital and Labor issue, telling them what scripture tells the laborer to do—"Be patient unto the coming of the Lord." I hope you can get out something special for Labor Day, for I am sure they will appreciate it. Praying God's richest blessing on the SIGNS and its laborers, I am,
Sincerely your sister in the faith,
LILIAN S. MARDEN.
