Helping Their People.—The Russian Committee of the Jewish Colonization Society has now established a Jewish colony in Brazil. Each colonist receives over sixty acres of land, two horses, two oxen, a cow, and a house 13×26 feet. Even the soil has been prepared by others at the expense of the society, and lumber is furnished for the colonists to build their own shed. And this is a hundred times more promising for the Jews than any effort to rejuvenate Palestine, as some of the best thinkers among the Jews declare. The return of the Jews to Palestine, as some are hoping to see it, will prove an iridescent dream.
