Lord, now I see why it was best for me,
This hard, rough way—it was the nearest route
And smoothest, from that dreary, barren waste
Where I was wandering when Thou foundest me,
Back to this narrow path indeed, “To Home.”
I thank Thee, Lord, for love in such disguise;
And never thru the long, long coming years
Shall Doubt’s dark whispers gloom my mind again.
