CHAMBERS’ “English Literature,” Vol. 1, is upon our table. The name of Chambers is a guarantee of the character of this work. When we were younger, and had time to attend to this class of literature, we should have hailed this volume as a valued friend. Vol. 1, covers the period from the earliest times to 1625, with choice extracts from all writers of any note. It is to be completed in eight volumes.
