I MAY be placed far from my natal shore,
Within a land wherein I was not born;
New faces I may meet each eve and morn,
New ones, that I have never met before.
My father's home may be far, far away,
And mother's face may fade with passing years,
With time grow indistinct, and dim through tears
That fall as I recall the former day.
The past may fade, I say; and yet I still
Have one true Father, present day by day;
And he who loves Him too is my dear friend.
My home on earth is where'er He may will
That I should stay; and there it is I pray
That I may do His bidding to the end.
