WORDS.

LIKE a cloudless sky at noon, Like a balmy day in June, Like a bird-song in the air, Like a fragrance everywhere Is the word of kindly cheer That at times falls on the ear.
Like a wind from ice-bound land, Like a discord from a band, Like a blow upon the cheek, Like a pain that makes one weak Is the cruel, careless word, That at times is often heard.
Let thy words then be with grace, Let the light shine from thy face, Let the Spirit have full sway In thy heart by night and day, Then thy words will be like rain, Backward to its source again. Eliza H. Morton.
