BETHEL.

So VAST the space from heaven above To sinful earth, We marvel what can span And stretch a saving bridge across To erring man,— It is the grace of Christ to me, It is my simple faith in Thee.
And as o'er mountains cold and steep The Master sought His wandering sheep, So now to-day He seeks me still, Forgives the flesh and takes the will, And by the grace of Christ to me, Accepts my simple faith in Thee.
Judge not, O thou who judgest, for God is thy Judge; do thou the law. Seek not the mote, the beam is nigh, For all have sinned beneath the sky. Stretch, still, that blessed Bridge of Light, From mansions fair to Egypt's night; At Bethel send Thy grace to me, By which my faith may rise to Thee.
