WHEN DAY IS DONE.

THE day is dead, and even’s holy stillness Falls like a mantle over earth and men; The winds are hushed, and birds have ceased their warbling; Night gently covers every hill and glen.
And who can doubt that at the day’s departing The Lord God walks o’er moor and hill and fen, And calls, as once He called in Eden’s bowers, To hold sweet converse with the sons of men?
O Father, let me hear Thee when Thou callest,— That after winter’s cloud, or summer’s sun, I may with Thee leave all my heavy burdens, And find sweet rest and peace when day is done. Mrs. Flora E. Yergin.
