Earthquake and Explosions in Crete

February 18 a severe earthquake was felt throughout the island of Crete, accompanied by violent subterranean explosions. A number of buildings were damaged at Canea, and a minaret of a mosque crushed through the dome. Six persons were buried in ruins at Varipetro.
