"God Bless You, Dear."

By May Field M'Kean

In all the varied realm of thought, Expressed in language sweet and clear, No whispered word to me has brought A warmer glow of love and cheer Than this: "God bless you, dear!"
"God bless you, dear!" God, who upholds The universe by word of power, Whose Spirit all our lives enfolds, Whose mercy rules each passing hour— "God bless you, dear!"
"God bless you, dear!" There's not a trace Of anyone beneath the skies Outside the bounds of that embrace, Whatever be its present guise; "God bless you, dear!"
"God bless you, dear!" And does He pause To note each child upon his way? My heart makes answer: "Yes, because He loves us both;" and so I pray, "God bless you, dear!" —May Field M'Kean.
