According to His Will

By Eliza H. Morton

The Most High rules here on earth According to His will, And none can stay His hand, or say, "What doest Thou? Be still!"

'Tis not God's will that men shall sin, Or evil dwell below; And yet He lets the wicked live, That all His love may know.

The universe must justice see; And sin shall show to all, Its awful character at length, The measure of the fall.

God's will on earth will surely be Exemplified at last, When all the wo that sin has wrought Is ever in the past.

'Tis working now, that perfect will. We pray it may be done In all its fulness, till at length The controversy's won.

Then let Thy will, O God, in us Our lives transform each day, Until our feet with gladness tread The holy city's way.
