The Continuing and Its Translation

The active sentence, "And it took away from him the continual," can also be translated in the passive form, "And the continual was taken away from him," according as one follows the vowelless text called by scholars the kethib, or the Masoretic, official text, called kere. The vowelless text gives the active form, while the Masoretic text gives the passive form. The Authorized Version has the passive form in the text, and the active form in the margin; while the Revised Version gives the active form in the text, and the passive in the margin.
