A SMART WOMAN.—A preacher not long since, asking to stay over night at a country house, was forbidden by the lady. Knowing her to be a member of the church, and generally pleased to entertain ministers, he began to quote Paul to her, hoping she would understand by this hint that he was a preacher. He had hardly got out, “for thereby some have entertained angels unawares,” when she said, “but angels, sir, would not come with tobacco in their mouths.” The preacher left without further ceremony.
