THE BOMBARDMENT OF SEVASTOPOL.

Fire from all the French and English batteries was opened upon Sevastopol on the 9th. On the 10th both French and English viewed the bombardment as effective; but nothing decisive had occurred to warrant a conclusion as to the immediate issue. The French left batteries had made a breach in the indented wall; the two fronts of the last erected Russian battery were much injured, and one of the Russian works of counter-approach, near the Careening Harbor, was silenced. During the first two days the besiegers's fire was superior to that of the city.
