Note from Bro. Hutchins.

BRO. SMITH: I feel truly thankful for the privilege enjoyed with the church in this place for some days past. The Conference was one of deep interest to me, and I am glad to know it was also to others. The truths preached at that time were stirring indeed, and well calculated to lead one to heed the injunction of Paul, "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves." The Testimonies recently given for the Church, I am sure will lead us to a closer walk with God, if obeyed. The prophet after stating the sad condition of the children of Israel, while living in unfaithfulness to God's requirements, asks the very weighty question, "Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?" Isa. xlii, 23. May the Lord help us to give ear and obey his voice. Since the very refreshing meeting yesterday, I have felt somewhat like a man set upon a watch for life. I hardly dare turn my attention from myself, when I consider the great work of preparation for the events before us. But in the strength of the Lord we may be prepared to stand, when the Son of man cometh. Battle Creek, Mich., Nov. 22d, 1857. A. S. HUTCHINS.
