Bro. J. M. Foster writes from Allegan, Mich., March 27th, 1859: "The church here are striving to arise. We have had some conflicts with the enemy, and unruly members, but praise the Lord, he has sent deliverance in time to his chosen ones. Bro. Rhodes has been laboring with us. I feel that the strait testimony will separate the precious from the vile. I praise the Lord for the strait truths put forth by God's messengers in these last days. My desire is to live by every word of the Lord, that I may be accounted worthy to be redeemed with God's people when the Lord shall come attended with all the holy angels in the clouds of heaven."
