Obituary.

DIED, in Rocklin, Placer county, Cal., June 13, 1879, Willie A., son of Wm. F. and Mary J. Schnetze, aged 10 years, 7 months, and 13 days. Little Willie was a great sufferer from spinal meningitis during a short illness. He was a constant attendant at a course of sermons I gave in the school-house near sister Schnetze's, in June, 1878, and clearly understood many points of the Christian's faith and hope, which seemed to cheer him in his last hours. One evening his pain was very great; he thought he was dying, and sank into a lethargy which lasted the whole night. In the morning when consciousness returned, and he felt somewhat free from pain, he asked, "Mamma is Jesus here?" He thought he had surely died the previous evening, and that now Jesus had really come, and restored him to life. With soothing words his mother replied, "No, Willie, when Jesus comes there will be no more pain." As death fastened its sting upon him, he bade farewell to all his relatives and friends, forgiving and asking forgiveness of all, and evidently making his peace with God. Brother and Sister Schnetze certainly have much to comfort them in that their little one will rise again. An able sermon upon the sleep of the dead and their resurrection was preached at the funeral services in the Congregational church by Elder G. W. Ficks, of Sacramento, from Isa. 21:11, 12. B. A. STEPHENS.
FELL asleep in Jesus, June 9, 1879, while on a visit to her daughter, near Manchester, Delaware Co., Iowa, my dear wife, Eliza J. Hare, aged 54 years and 8 months. She embraced present truth in 1860, under the labors of Elder M. E. Cornell. She loved the missionary work. Her faith in the soon coming of the Lord was firm to the end, and the hope of a glorious immortality beyond the grave comforted her in her last hours. Her last words to her children were, "Prepare to meet the Lord in peace." We laid her precious form away until the Lifegiver comes, when we expect to meet her again in immortal bloom, to enjoy the glorious inheritance of the saints of God. Being unable to obtain the services of a minister of our faith, words of comfort were spoken by I. N. Kramer, from 2 Tim. 7:8. THOMAS HARE.
