SABBATH DEBATE.

A copy of what is called The Debate between Eld. J. M. Stephenson and J. H. Waggoner having fallen into my hands, and as I see it advertised in two papers as being a correct report, I feel it duty to say a few words about it. Mr. Marsh of Rochester, N. Y. is the only man that I have heard of saying that the report is candid and genuine. But I speak what I know personally when I say that Mr. Marsh did not hear more than one half of the debate. Therefore he is not competent to judge.
The work carries evidence of its lack of honesty. I have conversed with opposers who have lost confidence in the work by reading it. At a discussion last winter Eld. Shockey announced that he had the report of Stephenson and Waggoner's debate for sale. "But," said he, "I cannot recommend it; I do not think it is candid." Eld. Hornaday told me in Russiaville Ind., in the presence of witnesses, that he had sent on and got several copies of the work to sell, but he decided not to sell it, as he had read a few pages of it and found that it lacked candor and honesty. With such admissions from our opponents we need no further evidence. Moses Hull.
