Victory Over Tobacco

"I CAN'T quit chewing tobacco." "There is no use in trying." "I know it is a useless, dirty habit, and I wish I could let it alone." So said three brethren at different times and places—so have said hundreds of others. To each of these—all class-leaders—I recommended an application to the throne of grace; "for whom the Son maketh free" from dirty habits, "is free indeed." They each asked and obtained divine aid. They promised God to try to quit the use of tobacco; the Lord heard and helped, and they are cleanly men, and fit to lead class. Each one of these brethren told me that he experienced no trouble after committing the whole thing to God. In these times of retrenchment, begin with your tobacco. If you are a christian, and believe you ought to quit, you have a sad deficiency of moral courage if you do not do it.
